But God has already made you what He wanted you to be. It’s your job to embrace His creation—to put down your masks and stop letting your doubts run your life so that your true self can break free.
You are not like anyone else on this Earth. God created you with a unique temperament and unique talents. He did this intentionally for a purpose. And that purpose is meant for your good, His glory, and the benefit of others. (Romans 8:28)
So what if instead of trying to be something you think you’re supposed to be, you clear away the noise and uncover who God has already created you to be?
There are 3 secrets that will help you do just that:
Secret 1:Drop the comparison.
Nothing will kill the greatness in you faster than comparing yourself to others. God has given you a race to run.
Don’t waste your time running someone else’s race. I don’t know why God promotes some people sooner than others, but that doesn’t matter (John 21:22).
When you focus on someone else’s business, you can’t live to your fullest potential.
Secret 2: Manage your critics.
If you give people the power to build you up, they will have that same power to tear you down.
Stop thinking that everyone is supposed to like you, agree with you, or be on board with your plans. It won’t happen. Instead, expect criticism.
You had a purpose before anyone had an opinion.
Galatians 1:10 asks us: “Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
Critical people criticize, to expect anything else would be foolishness. So let them say what they want—you stay focused on your own race.
Secret 3: Embrace your inner awesomeness.
I think the word ‘awesome’ is so overused that it’s lost its true meaning. Yes, sunsets are beautiful and pizza is delicious but only God is truly awesome.
And if you’ve given your life to God, His awesomeness is now living on the inside of you. God knits you together with intentionality (Psalm 139:13-15) and he doesn’t make mistakes. The most respectful thing you can do is to honor His creation.
I know that your desire is to become all that God created you to be. It is absolutely attainable.
