There are few things that break my heart more than talking to a woman who wants more out of her life but feels it’s too late.
I was talking with a woman from church last year and she heard that I help women find and fulfill their God given purpose. She was so excited to share with me what she felt God purposed her for. I could sense the excitement in her voice and the passion in her eyes. I was getting excited for her.
Then, a split second later, she summed it all up with, “But I’m too old. There’s no point.”
It was as if the life had drained out of her and no amount of encouragement or questioning would revive her. Her dream was dead. And instead of believing that God can bring dry bones to life, she found comfort in burying those bones so deep that they would never rise again.
While I can understand why someone later in life might think that their best years are behind them, I have proof that God’s plan and purpose will ALWAYS come to pass.
All He needs from us is a willingness.
Who are you to say what’s too old? What if you have five years left in you? Wouldn’t you want those years to be lived being the best you possible? Now worse, what if you’re having those same thoughts in your 40s or 50s? May I remind you that the average life span is well into the 80s now. That’s another 30-40 years. Are you okay with living the next 40 years the way you are now?
Abraham was 100 hundred years old when he and Sarah gave birth to Isaac. Moses was 80 years old when God used him to free the Israelites from slavery. Joshua was in his 70s when he entered the Promised Land. Even Jesus was 33 when His ministry started; it only lasted three more years on this earth. But look at the legacy he left!
How is God looking to use you?
“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
— Isaiah 40:31
Your purpose will come to pass.
Whether you are 28 or 88, it’s not too late.
